Museo Nacional de Cracovia

Krakow National Museum – was created in 1879. The Museum includes several buildings scattered around the city. It houses different galleries, both with permanent and temporary exhibitions.
The main museum is home to the following permanent collections:

Gallery of Polish Arms and Uniforms – includes a large collection of military equipment. It opened in 1991, and you can see key events and some of the leading figures in Polish history.

Gallery of 20th century Polish Art – the largest exhibition of this type, it was designed in 2005. It presents examples of Polish Art from 1900 onwards. You can also see paintings by Wojciech Weiss, Jóżef Pankiewicz or Olga Boznańska.

Decorative Arts and Crafts gallery – opened in December 1998; the oldest and most valuable artefact is the Wrocław goblet.

It also holds temporary exhibitions such as:
Goya. The dream of reason... – about the artist and his work

Sunday – free admission – 10am to 4pm
(The ticket office closes half an hour before closing time)

Tuesday-Saturday - 10am to 6pm

Permanent galleries:
Adult – approx. 2 € (8 zlotys),
Students – approx. 0,75 € (3 zlotys)
Families – approx. 3,25 € (13 zlotys - maximum 5 people),
Groups (adults - minimum 15 people)- approx. 2 € (8 zlotys),
School groups/students (minimum 15 people) – approx. 1 € (4 zlotys)

To see all the galleries and exhibitions in the Main building:
Adults – approx. 4 € (16 zlotys),
Students – p. 1,75 € (7 zlotys)
Families – approx. 7 € (28 zlotys - maximum 5 people),
Groups (adults - minimum 15 people)- approx. 3,5 € (14 zlotys),

Krakow Archaeological Museum - created in 1850, it boasts the most extensive archaeological collection in Poland.

Among the most important exhibits, note:
- Items made from mammoth bones (dated from 20 thousand years BC)
- Collection of clay figures
- Stone statues
- Sarcophagus of Egyptian mummies (from the 4th century BC)
- And many other treasures well worth seeing

Collegium Maius – the oldest building of Krakow Academy (after Jagiello University), it was built around 1400. The Gothic style building Collegium Maiuscontains the most significant elements of the University– including the Museum of Jagiello University.

You can see exhibitions devoted to astronomy, one of the most interesting exhibits being, in our opinion, the ancient globe with the contours of the Americas. You can also admire paintings by Matejko.
